Peter Minuit Plaza is on its way to becoming the city’s true intermodal transportation hub of the 21st century.

March 16 marked the opening of the new South Ferry subway station on Peter Minuit Plaza (in front of the Staten Island Ferry). Here, visitors to The Battery and Lower Manhattan will be able to take the 1, R, and W trains.

We were there at the opening ceremonies as public officials declared that The Battery Conservancy’s civic will and tenacious efforts resulted in saving parkland and creating this unique transportation hub where bikes, buses, subway lines and ferries intersect at one location.

We will keep you posted as construction on the Plaza itself soon begins, and this summer and fall as we build and install New Amsterdam Plein & Pavilion.
