When Warrie Price founded The Battery Conservancy in 1994, the historic waterfront park was not a place to linger. Cracked asphalt, broken fences, and neglected lawns defined the landscape— an afterthought amid bustling Lower Manhattan. But Warrie saw a possibility others could not: a resilient, biodiverse, and welcoming park where nature and community might meet through intentional design.

On the evening of Tuesday, June 9th, we invite you to The Battery Gala: Honoring Warrie Price. To mark her retirement, join us to celebrate thirty years of  imagination, leadership, and steadfast dedication to one of New York City’s most beloved public spaces.

We will begin with cocktails at the water’s edge, followed by an evening of celebration set against a glorious sunset and a farm-to-table feast beneath the trees. As always, the Gala is The Battery Conservancy’s most important fundraiser of the year. Private donations fund 100% of the park’s maintenance, gardens, and educational programs. Your generous purchase of a table or tickets ensures this work continues.

If The Battery has ever offered a moment of awe, a breath of calm, a place to gather with family, or a lasting memory of New York Harbor’s beauty, it is because Warrie Price first imagined that possibility—and then devoted her life to making it real. We hope you will join us in honoring her remarkable legacy.
